DZONGRI TREK, SIKKIM: 10 Nights / 11 Days
Day 01: Gangtok
Arrive Bagdogra airport and proceed to Gangtok.
Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, lies on a ridge overlooking the Ranipool River. Its name means 'High Hill'. The setting is spectacular with fine views of the Kangchendzonga range. It is a heavily forested region bounded by the rivers Tista and Tolung.
Evening visit to Rumtek monastery
Rumtek monastery is close to 300 years old and is the largest monastery in Sikkim. Rumtek has some truly magnificent tangkha paintings and is considered as the most important seat for the Kagyupa sect of Buddhism.
Overnight at Gangtok
Day 02: Gangtok - Changu Lake - Gangtok
It is literally known as "source of the lake" in Bhutia language. This serene lake is situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft on the Gangtok Nathu La highway. The lake is about 1 km. Long, oval in shape, 15 meters deep and is considered sacred by the local people. It is also a home of brahminy ducks. Its cool, placid water harmonizes with the scenic beauty around. A small temple of lord Siva is constructed on the lakeside. This placid lake remains frozen during the winter months up to mid-May.
Evening visit to Enchey monastery, Tashi viewpoint and the local market.
Overnight at Gangtok
Day 03: Gangtok - Yuksum
After early breakfast proceed to Yuksum. On arrival transfer to trekkers hut / lodge.
Evening at leisure.
The name 'Yuksom' means the meeting place of three Lamas. Situated at an altitude of 1780 mt, Yuksum was the first capital of Sikkim where the first Chogyal of the kingdom of Sikkim was consecrated in 1641AD by three learned Lamas. The Norbugang Chorten nearby still has the evidence of the consecration ceremony in the form of stone seats and a footprint of the head lama on a stone.

Day 04: Yuksum - Sachen
After early breakfast trek to Sachen, situated on the banks of Prekchu river.
Overnight stay in a tent.

Day 05: Tsokha
Trek from Sachen to Tshoka. Walk through dense forest of pine and oak After crossing river PrekChu it is straight 70 degree uphill climb this is the toughest stage in the entire Trek then we reach Bakhim the trail from Bakhim passes through magnolia and rhododendron trees. Tshoka is a small village. Overnight stay in a tent or lodge.
Overnight at Tsokha
Day 06: Tsokha - Dzongri
Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri. We go through dense forest of rhododendrons there are over 400 flowering species, a place called Deorali Dara provides a magnificent view of mountains. Then we reach Phethang for a break. After Phethang still further climbing we reach Dzongri here the Vegetation is thin and we tend to find only small bushes and shrubs for the night stay here is a tourist hut Its usually overcrowded and noisy.

Day 07: Dzongri - Tsokha
In Dzongri early morning we take a walk to Dabla Khang (Dzongri Top) the view from this place is magnificent one can view all the peaks. Afternoon trek to Tsokha.

Day 08: Tsokha - Yuksum
After breakfast trek to Yuksum. Transfer to trekker's hut/lodge. Evening at leisure.
Overnight at Yuksum
Day 09: Yuksum - Darjeeling
After breakfast proceed to Darjeeling. On arrival transfer to hotel. Evening free at leisure and shopping. Here, you can splash down in the Rangeet River for White water rafting at an additional cost.

Day 10: Darjeeling
Early morning visit to Tiger hill. Tiger Hill (2438 m.): is synonymous with spectacular sunrise and the play of different hues of colors over Mt. Kanchenjunga. Mount Everest is also visible from here at a great distance.
Return to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast proceed for a visit to Ghoom Monastery, Observatory Hill, Zoological Park, Natural History Museum, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Passenger Rope Way, Tibetan Refugee self help center and Tea Plantation.
Overnight at Darjeeling
Day 11: Darjeeling - Bagdogra
After breakfast proceed to Bagdogra airport and proceed for onward journey.
